Road
From county-wide leagues and local Grand Prix circuits to handicaps, relays, and our annual road championship, our members enjoy a packed, accessible calendar of competition year-round.
Along the way, this variety has driven tremendous club success, yielding numerous team titles and individual honours across both the men's and women's fields.

'Road running at Tunbridge Wells Harriers is about challenging yourself while being part of something bigger.
Across local relays, summer handicaps, and county-wide Grand Prix fixtures, our team spirit is what sets us apart.
Whether you're fighting for league silverware or tackling a new distance for the first time, you will always have a team of Harriers running with you and supporting you every mile of the way.'
Matt Newman & Ali Farrall, Road Captains

Kent Road Grand Prix
This is the premier Kent competition where we compete in a series of races against other clubs across Kent. We have a strong history in the competition and have won both the men’s and women’s competitions on numerous occasions, as well as numerous individual accolades. However, given Kent is a huge county many of the races could involve a lot of travel and they are not always on road, so we have developed an alternative club grand prix.
Club Road Grand Prix
We launched this series in 2026 to include more local races to create a series that is more accessible to members. In this series all events take place more locally, but not just in Kent (Sussex and Surrey too). All events are on road too. The series runs from January to November, culminating with our club championships. Members will score points depending on performances and age gradings to lead to the overall trophy winner for men and women each season.
Club Road Championship
This event takes place in November each year at the end of the road racing season. The race is 5.5 miles in a loop from Tunbridge Wells down to Bells Yew Green and back. Prizes are available for men and women in different age categories, presented at our annual awards night in May.
Club Handicap
This takes place on four separate Wednesdays in May, June, July & August in place of the usual club run. A challenging 10k route where runners start times are scheduled depending on expected or past 10k times. If everyone runs to their handicap, runners of all abilities finish at the same time so can lead to some really exciting finishes. Your score for the overall competition is based on a cumulative average time from any 3 runs and the runner with the lowest average wins the Speldhurst Trophy.

Relay Events
In May and June we take part in relay events in Beckenham and Penshurst. These are great team events and are always well attended by our members. Teams of three (evenly matched runners) will compete in a relay format against other local clubs. In August we also have our own Club Memorial relays for members, which take place at the Nevill Ground and marks the end of the Summer season.
