TRACK & FIELD

Whether you are targeting personal bests against county-level competition or trying a track event for the very first time, our track and field setup offers accessible, high-quality racing for every age and ability.

'Track racing creates a completely different energy to road or cross country running.

Having your club mates cheering down the home straight, chasing precise splits, and heading to the pub together afterward makes these fixtures some of the best days on the Harriers calendar.

There is a lane for everyone, regardless of pace.'

Stuart Corke - Track & Field Captain

CLUB MILE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Held every August Bank Holiday at Tonbridge School Track and hosted by TAC, the Harriers Mile Championships have quickly become a highlight of the club calendar.

Athletes race against peers in their age/gender category, with many also entering other events on the day. After racing, the club walks to a nearby pub for a reserved social area — a relaxed finish to a competitive and enjoyable afternoon.

SUMMER OPEN EVENTS

Open meetings run from April to September across multiple South‑East venues including Tonbridge, Ashford, Gillingham, Eltham, Dartford and others. These are true open events in that anyone can enter and races are seeded by ability, not age. Harriers compete in their club vest.

These events offer consistent high-quality opportunities for Harriers to race across sprints, middle-distance and field events. They’re perfect for chasing personal and seasonal bests, with plenty of camaraderie as Harriers often find themselves seeded together.

As a club, we publicise all potential meetings, but we particularly support the six Tonbridge Athletic Club (TAC) Open Meetings held at Tonbridge School Track on Easter Monday, August Bank Holiday and the first Tuesday of May, June, July & August.

Kent County MASTERS Championships

Held in September, the Kent County Masters Track & Field Championships are open to athletes who either live or were born in Kent.

Masters competition begins at 35 years old, with categories for both men and women at 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80.

To reach the podium, athletes must meet published qualifying standards (times or distances). The Championships offer a chance to compete for Kent gold, silver, and bronze, and to test yourself against the strongest masters athletes in the county.

Southern Counties Veterans League - Kent Division

The Kent Vets League runs two divisions for both men and women and we are currently applying to join for the 2027 outdoor season.

Competition is in a league format over six Friday evening fixtures across the summer. Events vary by fixture: one week may include an 800m, another a 1500m. Clubs must field athletes in the correct age categories and across both men’s and women’s teams.

The league features Individual track races, field events and relays at selected fixtures. Points are awarded based on finishing positions, contributing to team totals for each fixture and the overall league standings.

It is a vibrant, competitive, and highly social league that celebrates masters athletics and encourages participation across all abilities.
